Number of agencies have surveyed at various homes where people have installed burglar alarms in Cheshire. Most of the users have responded that due to installation of burglar alarm system the number of criminal incidents have considerably reduced. 

Similar survey was conducted by asking questions to about 500 burglars, who were convicted and most of them have agreed that they have been convicted only because of these alarms. Had there been no such alarm, they would never have been caught and they have been free by now instead of rotting in the jail. 

Interview was also conducted with number of other burglars, who have not been convicted yet and they too agree that such alarm system has forced them to think of considering some other profession. Most of them agree that while attempting for burglary they check whether the house has really installed any security alarm system or not. In case, they find the presence of any security alarm, they immediately reject that house for committing any burglary. They in fact prefer to attempt only on those houses where they are quite sure that security alarm is not present.
