Mirrors are made of plate
glass whose one side is metal coating and another side serves as a reflecting
surface for the viewer. There are huge collections of mirrors made of different
metals that can be used for various purposes. Mirrors are very significant in
your daily life. There are various types of mirrors available in the market
that can be used for different purposes, but it will be little difficult to
purchase the right modloft mirror that
meets your needs without knowing about the types of mirrors.
Types of mirrors and their use
There are two main types of
mirrors that can be used for different purposes:
Plane mirrors: As
the name indicates, plane mirrors have plane or flat reflective surface. It
produces the same size virtual image of the object that is reflecting on it.
Traditionally, it was made of flat piece of precious metals like copper, brass
etc. But,now these mirrors are made of a thin piece of plate glass. It can be
used as the wall mirrors and mirror for dressing table.
Spherical mirrors: This type of mirror has shape just like a piece cut out from a
spherical surface. Spherical mirrors comprise of two types of mirrors. First
type is concave and the second one is convex. Concave mirror magnifies things
placed closer to it. Shaving mirror and makeup mirror are the best example of
concave mirror. Convex mirror has a wider field of view and the objects
reflecting in them look smaller than their actual size. Side wing mirror of a
vehicle is one of the examples of convex mirror.
